English Version
Following the experience of the Global S/8 Day held in 2005, we are organizing the 2nd Super8FilmFestival, to be held in Milan on 24th and 25th October.
The 2-day event will feature almost non-stop programs which we hope will have great appeal for filmmakers, collectors, curious, professionals, newbies etc.
The event is sponsored by this forum, THE Italian site for S/8 knowledge, but of course everybody is welcome to join in the organization.
This event is organized by the Cultural Association “MilanoCinema” (created with he help of this forum), with the support of Milan City Council and in co-coperation with Kodak.
To give you a not-too-rough idea of the Festival’s structure, please read the following:
DAY 1:
“Vintage Super 8”: all that this format is and/or used to be, its history, history shot on S/8, highlights on projectors, cameras, hard-to-find movie packages plus plenty of more items often sought after on this forum, too.
DAY 2:
“Super 8 for Professionals”: or super 8 today, because who said it the the format is dead or is just for collectors? Or that it is not possible to make a film on 8 in 2009? Hence the new products on the market, the development facilities, the transfer houses, and all that is done and exists in Europe. Plus, needless to say, hous and hours of screenings.
In addition to the meetings with the specialists, there will be two other important sections:
A second-hand market and swap of S/8 equipment with dealers coming from all Italy, with the possiblity to bring in your appliances if you wish to sell it or get an estimate;
And finally (last but not least) the contest section for films exclusively originated on Super 8 (media of choice: camera originals or telecinema to DVD/MiniDV): you choose the theme, max running length is 15 mins, credits inlcuded. The prize consists in 40 cartridges of rawstock S/8 film (offered by Kodak), plus processing.
Please send us your flick on super 8 or partake the festival with your very own collection of equipment!
Plus should you have any unusual, weird material shot on 8 (for instance; the Zapruder footage), do tell us and we’ll be glad to screen it in the best possible way.
